Eaton's "Marshmallow" Building, Vancouver, 1984 (Limited Edition Print)
This urban landscape, like many other in the 80s Vancouver portfolio, has been almost totally transformed since I documented the scene, 32-years-ago. The site, at Robson & Howe Streets, including the hated "dingy marshmallow" (in 1984 occupied by Eaton's, after 1999, by Sear's) has recently been renovated to house Nordstrom's, the existing Pacific Centre, and other businesses.
The windowless exterior has been replaced by ultra-modern concrete and glass -- one Vancouver change that can be seen in a positive light. Still, I'm glad I preserved a reflection of the poor old marshmallow!
