Moonrise over the Black Buttes, Mount Baker, 1978 (Limited Edition Print)
Koma Kulshan, also known as Mount Baker (10,781 ft/3,286 m) looms over the southwestern corner of British Columbia and northwestern Washington state, where it is situated in the North Cascades Range.
It was one of the first wonders of this part of the world I saw from the window of my aunt's house, when we arrived in Canada. That first summer I watched red sheet lightning play over its summit, never dreaming I'd one day set foot there.
I made this photo on my first ascent of the volcano, in 1978
