The Lions in Autumn, 1984 (Limited Edition Print)
This photograph, made on a climb of the West Lion, in 1984, represents my influences at the time, in photography, mountaineering, and as I explain in a recent blog post, my search for a sense of place in Canada.
Though I spent nearly as much time in the mountains as the city in 1984, it is the one B&W "wild landscape" that can be rightfully included in the "Eighties Vancouver" portfolio.
The treatment is reminiscent of American landscape pioneers like Carleton Watkins, while the composition anticipates the popular Roller Coaster photo I'd make just two years later.
All limited edition prints printed on acid-free 100% rag paper, using pigment inks. Delivered prints do not include watermark seen here. Prints are embossed on border, outside the image area.
